AWARD ANNOUNCEMENTS: Winners will be notified of the Scholarship Committee’s decision in mid-April. Please expect communication from our local committee at that time and feel free to follow-up with us by email if you do not hear from us by April 30th: support@edwpf.org.

ELIGIBILITY: Eligible students may be US born, immigrants, or refugees, with ancestry in one or more of the following ethnic groups:

Samoan, Tongan, Hawaiian, Fijian, Chamorro, Micronesian.

Students must currently live and attend school in Washington and graduate during the 2019-2020 academic year.

PERSONAL STATEMENT: Please write a Personal Statement (1-2 pages, double spaced, 12pt font). Please include your first and last name and page number on all page(s).

1) Tell us about yourself and why a college education is important to achieve your personal and career goals.

2) Describe any obstacles or challenges you have experienced in getting your education and how you overcame them and/or what you learned from the experience.

3) What contributions have you made and/or are planning to make to your cultural/ethnic community?

  • Don’t forget to use your most valuable resources such as your school counselor, peer-readers, career center and teacher!

One Letter of Reference:

It is important to the scholarship committee members to get a sense of who the applicant is as a person. Please obtain one letter of reference from someone who can speak about you as a person, your journey, your character, accomplishments, goals, and/or community involvement. Examples of letter writers include:

  • School officials (such as a teacher, counselor, or principal)
  • Community leader or representative of an organization that you volunteer or are affiliated with (such as a minister or priest, mentor, or an employer)

** Letters CANNOT be from a family member.

Tip: Ask for letters of reference early and allow two or more weeks for the reference person to complete your letter. Consider providing a summary of your school and community involvement for your references to help them write a strong letter of support.

Official School Transcript is required.

You may obtain your official transcript from your school’s front office. Please ask your guidance counselor or the Principal’s Office to mail us an official copy of your transcript.
